Ecodesign

Ecodesign, according to NF X30-264 standard, is a methodical approach that takes environmental aspects into consideration during the design and development process, with the aim of reducing negative environmental impacts throughout the life cycle of a system.

It is a method based on a global and multi-criteria analysis, allowing for the consideration of all environmental impacts and thus avoiding pollution transfer.

The integration of environmental information into standard design processes is becoming a common practice for many companies. It is within this dynamic that Solinnen supports your teams, offering action-training, the development of tools tailored to your specific needs, and the involvement of consultants who can temporarily integrate into your teams and design processes to ultimately transfer their expertise to you.

The generic stages of the approach are as follows, as presented in standard NF X30-264.

It is essential, when integrating ecodesign into a company, to adapt to the specific context, particularly the existing design process.

Solinnen can support you at two key stages of the approach:

• Initiating or structuring an ecodesign strategy within the company (analysis of the current situation, strategic planning for deployment, team training, development of tools and databases, etc.)
• Integrating ecodesign practices into the development or redesign of a system (identification of environmental hotspots, facilitation of ideation sessions, evaluation of ecodesign options, support with communication, etc.)

To support you in the first steps of this approach, BPI France and ADEME have developed the Diag Ecoconception.

This is a program subsidized up to 60% to 70% for small and medium-sized enterprises wishing to improve the environmental performance of their products and services.

The Diag Ecoconception will enable you to:

• Raise awareness among your internal teams about ecodesign and train an ecodesign referent within your company
• Carry out an environmental assessment based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the relevant product, service, or process
• Identify, formalize, and quantify your ecodesign levers, while managing the risk of pollution transfer
• Prepare the implementation of an action plan, including an initial techno-economic assessment

Cécile Beaudard, Charlie Brenot and Emma Fermond, LCA and ecodesign experts are approved by BPI France to carry out these diagnostics with you.

Salomé has also been involved in the NF X30-264 standard drafting which objective is to provide ecodesign principles and methodological recommendations for any organization wishing to initiate, develop, enhance, or sustain an eco-design approach.
